Worth Reading Again: Dr. Daniel R. Hyde on Reformed Worship and the Sacraments

We first ran this conversation with Dr. Daniel R. Hyde in late 2024, and it’s one of the pieces I keep coming back to. Hyde, pastor of Oceanside United Reformed Church and author of Welcome to a Reformed Church: A Guide for Pilgrims, has a rare gift for making confessional Reformed convictions feel both ancient and immediate.

In the interview he walks through what it means to be Reformed (Christian, Protestant, and Reformed, in that order), why our worship is governed by the regulative principle, and how Reformed churches understand Christ’s true presence in the Lord’s Supper over against Rome, Orthodoxy, and Lutheranism. His treatment of infant baptism is especially worth your time. The argument he makes to evangelicals is disarmingly simple: you already believe your children belong to the covenant; baptism is just the sign that says so.

If you missed it the first time, or if you’ve got a friend wrestling through these questions, this one’s built for sharing. We’re glad to bring it back around.
